Automotive shops require software that is able to help assist the normal, day-to-day operations of the company. When searching for software, there are a few things you want to look for.
Find Options
It is important to find the right software for the right job. When you are looking for the software that works best, a little research goes a long way. Asking a few key questions will make the entire process smoother and less difficult than it would otherwise be. Start with assessing the needs of the company. What type of automotive repair software works best for the type of shop in question? Does the price fit into the budget, and will it save the shop money over the long term when implemented?
Ask Around
Asking other area shops what they use is a good start. Knowing what works is usually the main thing every manager is looking for, and other managers may know what works best. Look for options first, and choose a couple of options that will best for the shop in question. When you have found a couple of candidates, you can narrow your search from there. Start by comparing the uses of the software to the needs of the business. Does it do full POS? Does it inventory? Does it manage stock and reorder, and track billable hours?
Functions and Features
The best automotive repair software makes it easy to send and receive parts, manage the employee hours and labor costs, and track the customer’s past visits. Insurance records are kept for accident victims and having those on hand can make certain customers choose certain shops over another. When tracking past visits having the right software in place can prove invaluable. It is essential to have detailed files in place to send to claims adjusters, and that is what the right software can be good at managing for shops.
