The Ford Edge, The Perfect Mid-Size Crossover

by | Sep 4, 2017 | Automotive

Sitting nicely in the Ford lineup, right between the compact Escape and the full size Explorer is the Ford Edge. The Ford Edge is the perfect two row crossover, it is available in all wheel drive or alternatively, front wheel drive only.

A quick overview of the Ford Edge:

The base engines used in the 2017 lineup include the basic 2.0 L four cylinder rated at 245 HP. If you are looking for a little more “get up and go” you can opt for the 3.5L V6 with 280 HP or the twin turbo 2.7 L V6 rated at a whopping 315 HP. All engines that are available in the Ford Edge in Orland Park are teamed up with a very smooth six speed automatic transmission.

The Edge Sport comes standard with aggressive suspension that equates to extremely good handling and the 2.7L V6 provides more than enough power for passing and merging into traffic on the expressway.

The EPA fuel ratings are good; the 2.0 L turbo front wheel drive version is rated 20/29 city/highway, the all wheel drive Edge is rated 20/27 MPG. As you might expect, the 3.5 L V6 fuel figures drop, but not excessively; 17 city and 26 highway are admirable numbers, even the most powerful Edge, the Sport trim is rated 17/24 MPG.

The standard equipment includes hard wearing cloth upholstery, a SYNC Infotainment set-up, Bluetooth, USB and 18 inch alloy wheels. There are great options available; heated and ventilated front seats are ideal for Chicago winters, dual zone climate control, keyless start and a lot more.

Safety:

The Ford Edge in Orland Park is every inch a family vehicle, safety is of primary importance. The 2017 Edge gets a five start rating from NHTSA. The vehicle comes standard with active cruise control, front collision warning device, lane assist; lane departure and blind spot warning.
