From the Beginning
Although the company traces its roots back to 1868, life did not really begin for the company until 1909. At this point, the company was taken over by the current managing director’s great grandfather. Although the company was then producing a variety of different machinery for the dairy industry in North Germany, its focus did not shift to pumps until the 1930s.
The year 1931, marks the movement by Fristam’s into high quality fristam metal pumps. The first line was a sheet metal pump followed up by several others including the FP Investment Cast Pump in 1936 and the FZ Liquid Ring Pump in 1948. It was not until the 1950s that the company launched its first FK Positive Displacement Pump (1953). These were then joined by other categories of positive displacement pumps including the FL Positive Displacement Pump (1992) and the FKL Positive Displacement Pump (1995).
From then on, Fristam Pumps never looked back, adding more pumps as well as shear blenders (first in 2003) and powder mixers (2004). Models of centrifugal pumps now include FP, FPH, FZ and FM. Positive displacement (PD) pumps now are available in several models including FL, FK and FKL.
Standards and Materials
Fristam has established its reputation for high quality sanitary products partly because of their choice of material. While companies can choose to produce pumps using any of several metals, Fristam has based its reputation on steel. In particular, they utilize high quality stainless steel for their blenders, mixers and, of course, their pumps. This improves the overall hygienic properties of the items as well as improving corrosion resistance and durability. Repeatedly, their products meet and then exceed the required standards.
