One of the problems with traditional X-ray systems was that they required a cassette. What this meant was you would have to wait for the images to be transferred, something that would naturally add to the anxiety for patients as they await important results.
With a DR system, it uses a level panel detector to do the scanning process. This can then capture the data from the scan and transfer it straight away onto a computer, without the need for a cassette.
Another major benefit is the fact that this type of scan results in better quality images than you would get after the film has been processed. This is especially important as being able to see clearer could also mean detecting any potential issues a lot quicker and more precisely.
