Is your home’s air conditioning giving you trouble? Maybe you cannot get enough heat on cold nights. You may want to check into a good HVAC repair service in Nassau County NY but who should you call? Most companies provide honest services, but some are in the business to take advantage of you. Here are some ways to tell if you have a bad tech.
Appearance
When your technician visits you, he should look the part. For instance, most HVAC repair techs in Nassau County NY are neat in appearance. Beware of shabbily dressed technicians who look like they do not care about their appearance. If he shows up in a beat-up old vehicle which looks like it just came from a salvage yard, this is not a good sign.
Rude or Insensitive
Competent techs are knowledgeable and understand all about air conditioning and heating systems. However, they listen to everything you have to say. You do not have to stand for someone who interrupts you when you speak and acts like he knows everything. If your tech is insensitive and rude, you should terminate the service call and tell his company about his behavior.
Scare Tactics
A dishonest HVAC repair tech in Nassau County NY may try to scare you into buying a new AC unit or furnace when you really do not need one. For example, he may tell you it is dangerous to keep using the old unit. He might claim you have a bad compressor when you only need a cleaning or an inexpensive part.
If you think your tech is trying to scare you into making a large purchase, tell him you want to think about it for a few days. Get another opinion or two from other local companies.
