There are many breeds of dogs and even mixed breeds that make wonderful companions and service animals. When it comes to choosing a breed for security and law enforcement purposes, there is one that stands out from the rest. The German Shepard is the favored choice by military and police forces around the world. There are many reasons why a Canine Trainer in Texas, raising dogs for these organizations, would choose to breed and train this dog.
History of Success
The first K-9 officers were placed on duty at the start of the 20th century. German Shepards were the breed selected at this time. They were used by soldiers as early as WWI and were proven to be reliable partners for their human companions. Their size and strength made them intimidating, but their loyalty to their trainers and handlers was an even more important trait.
Reliability of Skills
A properly trained K-9 partner is amazingly talented. Unlike humans, they are not fooled by appearances and use scent to find their target. That keen sense of smell is not only useful when hunting down bad guys. It is also perfect for finding bombs and detecting drugs. The fact that their sense of smell is 30,000 times more keen than a human’s and considering their renowned loyalty, bravery and speed and strength it is easy to see how they have earned their professional reputation.
Ability of Trainers
Companies like True Canine International use methods that are based on decades of education and experience. The trainers working for these companies use their extensive knowledge to select and breed animals with all of the qualities necessary to make them the perfect K-9 officer. Once the pups are chosen, they then use proven training tactics to produce animals that are reliable and kind to their partners and aggressive and unrelenting with an enemy.
The police, the military and search and rescue teams understand that people die if they make mistakes. The best Canine Trainer in Texas understands this too.
